We are a Dusun village at the foothill of Kinabalu – named after Bongol (Dusun language for otter), often seen in our village rivers. Blessed with biodiverse food forests and home gardens, we welcome all to visit and experience our natural treasures.

Roipin Rafflesia Reserve (RRR, aka Mt Kinabalu Bongol Rafflesia Garden, MKBRG)

A small forest reserve owned by Mr Roipin Gomok & family, preserved for its abundant Rafflesia keithii, as well as diverse flora and fauna.

Mapping for management: to better understand latest forest cover and topography in order to devise best conservation and management plan.
Water, preserved: we are committed to conserve Roipin’s forest not only for the Rafflesia, but also for the sustainable source of clean water.
Flora, preserved: we are committed to conserve Roipin’s forest not only for the Rafflesia, but also its flora diversity.

Photography for promotion: we attempted to create timelapse video of Rafflesia blooming to better promote the Roipin Rafflesia Reserve.
Our Scientific Advisor has been helping to document and create synergy for the conservation of Rafflesia in Bongol.
