Bijisan – A Mountain of Seeds
Nestled in the hills of Ulu Yam Baru is “Bijisan” and her two founders, Meiyu & Xiaofen. The name “Bijisan” comes from the Malay words “Biji” (meaning “seed”) and “San” (which translates directly to “mountain” in Chinese).
“All the answers of life are hidden within every seed…”
Bijisan aims to spread the seeds of the mountain, literally and metaphorically – planting them in the forests, as well as in the hearts of those who are meant to encounter it. When the time is right, these seeds will sprout, flower, and fruit for the future of mankind and wildlife. To achieve this we plan to collect various forest seeds and plant them — honoring them as sacred beings, for they are integral to the balance of nature.

Meiyu & Xiaofen:
We are the new residents of Bijisan, and our mission is to reconnect people with nature through permaculture. We live harmoniously with the beings of the land — snakes, frogs, lizards, birds, monkeys, and more. Our vision is to foster a deeper connection with the natural world and share the beauty of simple, sustainable living.
Our journey began in 2013 when we stepped out of our comfort zones and stopped living the typical 9-to-5 lifestyle. After leaving our jobs, we were fortunate to immerse ourselves in organic farming and permaculture principles. We even visited organic farms in Taiwan to learn more about sustainable farming practices. In 2014, we joined Malaysia’s first vitality farming project, gaining hands-on experience and knowledge. Living in Cameron Highlands, we witnessed the environmental damage around us and felt deeply concerned. This led us to realize that to protect nature, we must first inspire people to fall in love with it. In 2015, we decided to shift our focus to making a difference for the environment. After leaving the farm, we returned to the city to start anew and organize park activities that would help people, especially families, reconnect with nature. Meiyu and volunteers led games for children, while parents participated in mindfulness activities and learned about the importance of parent-child relationships. After the success of our first event, we continued organizing similar activities in parks across the Klang Valley until Bijisan called us to begin this new chapter.
For us, Bijisan is the ideal space for outdoor, nature-based family activities. It’s a place where people can reestablish their connection with the land, while also providing an experimental space for us to practice and share permaculture principles. Here, we learn, explore, and grow alongside the plants and animals. Whether it’s managing a small forest, restoring an orchard, or improving infrastructure, every task here is part of a healing process — not just for the land, but for the growth of our body, mind, and spirit.
We welcome all like-minded friends to visit Bijisan, walk along the river, observe the birds in flight, listen to the wind in the trees, and enjoy the beauty and peace that nature offers.
For sustenance, we sell seasonal fruits. Additionally, we occasionally host workshops led by overseas mind-body-spirit instructors, including Hellinger Family System Constellations, horticultural therapy, and tree energy sessions.
